THE FOUNDERS OF A LITTLE ROOM OF THERAPY
We met during our early years when training in placement as volunteer counsellors in a drug and alcohol agency. Having quickly established a firm personal friendship as well as having a deep professional rapport, we were able to identify common goals and ambitions which have resulted in us joining forces to bring you our counselling services.
Our personal life experiences led us both into the world of counselling and psychotherapy. After having gone through our own individual personal therapy and experiencing the therapeutic process for ourselves as clients first-hand, this allowed us to view the process from both the client and therapist perspective.
We realise the importance of establishing a therapeutic bond with your counsellor and as such offer an initial non-obligatory thirty minute free consultation, where we aim to understand your current needs and whether our services suit you.
Our theoretical approach encompasses learnings from the Humanistic, Psychodynamic, and Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies.
We are both full members of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and as such adhere to the Ethical Framework.
We are fully insured and take our professionalism very seriously by undertaking regular supervision and are constantly enhancing our training through continued professional development, by attending training updates, workshops and seminars.
Data Protection Act 1998. We take your confidentiality and Data we hold about you very seriously and as such are registered with ICO (Information Commissioner's Office) which will be a legal requirement for all Counsellors from 2018.
We both are actively involved in helping our local communities/charities and donate a combined average 15 - 20 hours of free counselling interventions per week.
